DT 9412
AU Motegi N; Tokyo Metropolitan Komagome Hospital, Japan.
SO Int Conf AIDS. 1994 Aug 7-12;10(1):180 (abstract no. PB0148). Unique
Identifier : AIDSLINE ICA10/94369595
AB OBJECTIVE: Since the first descriptions of Acquired immunodeficiency
syndrome (AIDS) in 1981, the infection has been characterized as having
significant oral manifestation in adult patient. But, we have less of
these cases in Japan than in U.S.A. Therefore we present some cases of
significant oral manifestation in Japanese. METHOD: The cases were Human
immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or AIDS patients who visited Komagome
Hospital. The clinical findings were exhibited by photograph. RESULT: We
observed candidiasis, hairy leukoplakia, angular cheilitis and other
symptoms with HIV and AIDS patients in our dental department. DISCUSSION
AND CONCLUSION: HIV related oral candidiasis, hairy leukoplakia and
other significant oral manifestation affects approximately many
HIV-seropositive patients and almost patients with AIDS. We also
recognized oral manifestation precisely with HIV and AIDS patients in
Japanese.
